SilverCare ("we") is a medication-reminder and family-care app for older adults and their caregivers. This policy explains what data the app collects, why, and the choices you have. It applies to the SilverCare iOS app and this website.
Data we collect
- Account — display name, email address and/or phone number, sign-in provider, user ID, language.
- Care circle data — medication names, schedules and pill photos, dose confirmations, blood pressure / heart rate / glucose readings you record, appointments, and alerts.
- Confirmation photos (optional) — photos you choose to attach when confirming a dose.
- Location (SOS only) — when you press the SOS button, your current location is attached to the alert sent to your family. Location is never collected in the background.
- Usage & diagnostics — app usage events (Google Analytics for Firebase) and crash reports (Crashlytics) used to keep the app reliable.
How we use your data
Solely to run SilverCare: send medication reminders, show adherence to your care circle, notify caregivers when a dose is missed or SOS is pressed, and improve app stability. We do not sell your data and we do not show ads.
Sharing within your care circle
Your data is visible only to the people in your care circle — the family members you (or the person who set up the circle) invited. Alerts such as missed doses and SOS are sent to the circle's caregivers. No one outside your circle can see your data.
Service providers & where data is stored
SilverCare runs on Google Firebase (authentication, database, storage, notifications, analytics, and crash reporting). Data is stored on Google Cloud servers in the United States (us-central1) and processed under Google Cloud's data-processing terms, which include GDPR standard contractual clauses. If you sign in with Apple or Google, the sign-in itself is handled by that provider.
Security
All data is encrypted in transit and at rest. Access is controlled by role-based security rules — a member of one care circle can never read another circle's data, and read-only roles cannot change anything.
Retention, export & deletion
Your data is kept while your account is active. You can leave a care circle or delete medications at any time in the app. To export your data, or to delete your account and all associated data, email us — we will complete the request within 30 days.
Children
SilverCare is designed for adults and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
Changes to this policy
If we make significant changes to this policy, we will announce them in the app before they take effect.
